About Us
The Maker
Leaving the corporate life of pre-dawn commute, late-evening shifts and endless cycles of boring routines, The Maker entered a GILDED world of midnight milk sessions, mysteriously stinky diapers and senseless, toothless grins that made everything else worth it.
Just as it was a challenge to take up a round-the-clock position that left her with zero off-days and full weekends, it was vital to The Maker to assume complete responsibility over her family's nutritional consumption. So she learnt to cook, after three decades of not knowing what goes into a basic pantry in an Indian household.
After a few burnt and bitter dinners, she quickly realized that she loved to cook. It became her language of love and soon turned into a stubborn passion that she should be able to prepare anything that could be sold in a store, right in her own kitchen.
The GILDED Story
What started out as an experiment to make a well-loved Indian treat that was described by her mother as being "a lot of work" ended up garnering astonishing comments. One such comment was that the quality and flavor of her laddus was rare in Singapore and reminded one of the tastes of Madras (Chennai), India.
At the end of that comment, the first ideas for GILDED were birthed.
Ideas snowballed. Generation-old recipes collided with new, internet-found ones. Notes were compiled. Taste and quality tests were performed. Failed batches never made it past the pan to the cooling racks. And finally, The Gilded Standard came to be.
Our Ingredients
Choosing the best of quality ingredients became The Maker's utmost priority when she started to cook for her children.
An ex-nurse who had dealt extensively and intimately with aged patients suffering from chronic and lifestyle diseases, The Maker had always been mindful of health in general. Her nursing knowledge and motherly instincts came together effortlessly for the GILDED project.
Quality here is uncompromised and most of our main ingredients come produced in small batches, in natural environments like local farms in India. We use raw ingredients that go through very little or no processing at all.
In instances where mass-produced or processed ingredients are unavoidable, we use them in moderation to ensure our laddus remain health-friendly whilst staying true to their flavors.
Our Sustainability Promise
We care about the planet we will leave behind for our children.
Our packaging solutions are the results of days and weeks of research on sustainable, eco-friendly materials that can still offer the touch of luxury to deliver the experience you get with every box.
We have crafted our boxes with reusability in mind and urge our clients to upcycle our boxes for GILDED moments in your every day.
